Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh)
Cristina Young is a surgical doctor at Seattle Grace Hospital in the drama series “Grey’s Anatomy”. Actress Sandra Oh portrays the role of Cristina who has a Korean blood but is a native of California in Beverly Hills. Though Cristina is a strong believer of science and is an atheist, she was raised under the influence of Jewish religion. Cristina is a very competitive when in fact she graduated top of her class in the Stanford University School of Medicine obtaining an M.D. degree. Since naturally competitive, Cristina always gets excited every time she gets the opportunity to be part of a surgery. She even goes beyond the limits, like stealing patients, just so she can be part of a challenging surgery. She prioritizes logic and practicality over her emotions, but this does not mean that she has not been through emotional breakdowns. Her best friend among the interns is Meredith, whom she also considers as her “person”.
Sandra Oh portrays the role of Cristina Young in this series. The Canadian actress was born on July 20, 1971. Oh received the Golden Globe award for her portrayal of the role of Cristina. Some of her notable works includes the movies “Under the Tuscan Sun” and “Ali$$”, which is an original series of HBO. She was also awarded by the Canadian award giving body Genie Award as Best Actress for her portrayal of a role in the movie “Double Happiness.” Sandra Oh was also involved in voice animations like “American Dragon: Jake Long”.
